TheFree State Province is proud to host the 2018 National Freedom Day celebrations which will mark 24 years of freedom from apartheid, colonial oppression and two decades of constitutional democracy in South Africa. Another special celebration includes the celebration of the centenary of former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and Mama Albertina Sisulu. The theme for the 2018 Freedom Month celebrations is “The Year of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela: United for a Radical Socio-economicTransformation”. It is expected that President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address.
The National Freedom Day Celebrations will take place on 27 April at 08:00 at the Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium. Entrance to this event is free of charge and members of the public are urged to join the celebrations. Freedom Day is an opportunity not only to celebrate 20 years of the constitution, freedom and democracy, but to also to reflect on how South Africa`s democracy and freedom were achieved, the progress made in the past 24 years and how South Africans should work together to achieve economic freedom.
